Visual Brand Language and Grid System
McGraw-Hill brought us in to help define how the corporate brand could flex across their K–12 product lines. At the time, different teams were designing in silos, leading to visual inconsistency and duplicated effort. We started by building out three design directions: contemporary, structured, and playful, and applied each to a set of sample layouts. Once a clear direction was chosen, we rolled that into branded templates for brochures, flyers, and ads across two sub-brands. From there, we created a set of guidelines and InDesign templates that gave internal teams a repeatable system to follow, making it easier to build future materials while keeping everything aligned to both corporate and product-specific branding.
The Brand Service was contracted to help develop a grid system and visual design templates for brochures and flyers for our company's marketing and advertising collateral. We worked together through three rounds of design to come to a final set of templates... they helped our materials have a cohesive design and visual language, ensuring that every piece reinforces our brand identity and standards.

Stuttering is No Joke
Just think for a minute, when was the last time you saw a person who stutters in the media that wasn’t portrayed as a stereotype such as: a mentally-ill person, a villain, or the comic relief. The Brand Service wanted to highlight and educate people on a serious issue that doesn’t receive the attention it needs. .

People Who Stutter (PWS) have been negatively portrayed in the public arena for far too long. Negative comments and misconceptions have even found their way into today’s news, entertainment and politics. We need to be reminded that stuttering isn’t funny or a cognitive issue.
The solution
The Brand Service started the #StutteringIsNoJoke campaign through a grant from Columbus College of Art & Design and the National Stuttering Association, and later presented at their National Convention in 2021. Multiple participants joined the campaign, helping it reach thousands. It showed how creative advocacy, rooted in personal experience, can start meaningful conversations, and make a difference.
As part of launching a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on advocating for people who stutter, The Brand Service, together with Stuttering is No Joke, have a mission to develop campaigns addressing the ongoing and harmful misrepresentation of stuttering portrayed across Hollywood and media outlets.

National Stuttering Association
The National Stuttering Association is a United States support group organization for people who stutter. Its headquarters are in New York City. The Brand Service is a close friend of NSA and we have a rich history of collaboration.
